Driving is very often the best way to move around in this part of Coquitlam. It is a reasonably short car ride to the nearest highway, such as Trans-Canada Highway, from anywhere in River Heights, and it is very easy to find a parking spot. In contrast, this area is not very transit friendly. Nonetheless, the neighbourhood is served by a few bus lines, and it is very convenient to reach a nearby bus stop from most houses. Even though the bicycling infrastructure is good, getting around by bicycle is at times difficult in River Heights as there is a considerable amount of slopes. Most homes for sale in this part of the city are located in places that are also not very well-suited for walking as many daily needs are sometimes difficult to carry out without the use of a vehicle.
Services
Primary schools are not particularly plentiful in River Heights, and therefore often beyond walking distance, and there are no high schools. Furthermore, it can be challenging to reach daycares on foot. With respect to food, some, but not all, home buyers in River Heights will reside within walking distance of the closest supermarket.
Character
The character of River Heights is exemplified by its calm ambience. Green spaces are very well-located and there are about 10 of them nearby for residents to relax in, which makes them very easy to reach. Most areas in this part of Coquitlam are reasonably quiet, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic - although there are still several louder sections, especially closer to the railway line or Trans-Canada Highway.
