This area is an extremely convenient part of Mississauga for travelling by car. Parking is quite easy. However, Southdown is not an especially convenient part of Mississauga for getting around by public transit. Nonetheless, residents benefit from the Clarkson Station on the Lakeshore West Line. There is Clarkson Go Station Platform 9 with access to the 110 | University Express. Property owners are served by a few bus lines, and it is very easy to reach a nearby bus stop from most houses. It is challenging for pedestrians to move around in Southdown as few daily needs can be met by walking. Although a few pleasant sectors for bicycling exist, commuting by bicycle is also occasionally challenging in Southdown as the cycling network is not especially comprehensive, and the topography is not particularly flat.

Getting to the nearest grocery store on foot is feasible for some, but not all, house buyers in Southdown. A limited selection of restaurants and cafes can be found as well. When it comes to education, primary schools and daycares are convenient to reach on foot from anywhere in Southdown. On the other hand, there are no high schools in this part of the city.

There is an extensive selection of green spaces in Southdown. There are a few parks close by for residents to explore, including Lakeside Park and Harding Waterfront Estate, resulting in them being easy to reach from most locations in Southdown. Finally, this area remains relatively calm, thanks to the presence of very few people out and about on the streets.
