Transportation
Owing to a few nearby bus lines, the public transit system in this part of Pickering is quite practical. However, bicycling is challenging in Village East because there are a good number of slopes, and there are very few bike lanes. There aren't many pedestrians out on the streets of this neighbourhood, although running day-to-day errands is convenient by walking. On the other hand, Village East is an extremely good part of Pickering for travelling by car. It is straightforward to access a place to park, and many real estate listings are a short drive from the closest highway, such as Highway 401.
Services
Parents and their kids will value that wherever their home is located in Village East, daycares and primary schools are close by. In contrast, this area does not have any high schools. As far as food is concerned, house buyers in Village East will value that a grocery store is always only a short walk away. Likewise, there are a fair number of opportunities in close proximity for those who care about restaurants and cafes. It is also a reasonably short walk to a decent choice of clothing stores.
Character
Thanks to the presence of few people out and about on the streets, Village East is relatively quiet; however noise levels are higher closer to Highway 401. Public green spaces aren't well-spread out, making it very hard to reach them.
