Transportation
This neighbourhood is very car friendly. It is a rather short drive to the nearest highway, such as Autoroute Robert-Cliche, from any location in this part of the city, and it is very easy to come across a parking spot. On the other hand, getting around by transit can be very difficult in Saint-Nicolas by reason of the service's low frequency. Thankfully, there are about 30 bus lines, and bus stops are typically close by. This neighbourhood is not very suitable for walking because very few common errands can be run without having to resort to a car.
Services
High schools and primary schools are not particularly abundant in this part of the city, and therefore not always within walking distance. Moreover, families may find it difficult for their kids to get to daycares as a pedestrian. When it comes to eating, purchasing one's groceries usually demands the use of a vehicle in this part of the city. There are also a few opportunities for those who value nearby restaurants.
Character
Most areas in Saint-Nicolas are quiet, as the streets are generally quite calm - although that is not the case around Autoroute Robert-Cliche, Autoroute Jean-Lesage or the railway line. Parks are spread out sporadically, making them rather challenging to get to from the majority of locations in this part of the city. Despite that, there are about 20 green spaces close by for residents to enjoy, like Parc de la Montagne and Parc des Chutes-de-la-Chaudière.
